The “Fountains for Youth” project came about from a desire from our club to have a significant community betterment project every three or four years.

A splashpad was suggested and a committee was formed to explore the feasibility. Committee members were David Hull, Casey Goodwin, Lawson Knight and Skip Cundiff.   We thought this could be another great Rotary / City of Walla Walla partnership.  The city was contacted and enthusiastically supported our idea and became part of the committee.   We approached the Sherwood Trust, and they were very supportive, offering a grant of $200,000, half the project cost, if we could raise the rest.  The committee worked hard to raise the needed funds, and the community responded.  We had donations ranging from $10 to $25K dollars coming from individuals, businesses, service clubs and trusts.  This is truly a community financed splashpad.
